Look Me In The Eye’s hosted by Ray Martin, SBS appears to be another show on SBS that hardly seems relevant to the SBS charter. It seems more oriented to providing Ray Martin with welfare in his old age and surely you could hardly believe he was in need of income support after the big money he made during his working life?

The first episode details the conflict between two Sudanese citizens which arose in war torn Sudan, both individuals have entered Australia as refugees. One of the participants in the show appears to have inflicted criminal assaults and injuries on the other participant. This to my mind raises the question of how was he granted entry to Australia given his criminal past which is not in doubt given his admissions confirming his criminal past, A few years later, Anyang was given a “promotion”: the authority to punish escapees by tying them up and lashing them with a cane. Had he refused, he would have been beaten. The offender seems to be relying on the Nuremberg defence: The Court held that “the justification for acts done pursuant to orders does not exist if the order was of such a nature that a man of ordinary sense and understanding would know it to be illegal”. So how did he enter Australia in the face of this alleged criminal behaviour? The show itself is another bullshit reality show where every things is scripted, Martin wouldn’t want to lose face.
